Prenton

The 2007 inter-Departmental team event took place at Prenton on Friday 6 July.

24 teams of 3 took part with 3 ladies competing.

There was a 2.00 shotgun start and fortunately the rain stayed away although strong winds made play difficult. Given the weather over the previous few weeks we were lucky to be able to play and the course was in remarkable condition.

The meal afterwards was excellent although I’m not sure the same could be said of my jokes.

The winning team represented the Passport Agency and consisted of Martin Barkley, Steve Moglione and Richard Cadogan. With the best 2 stableford scores counting their final total of 85 points was outstanding, scores of 79 and 76 taking the minor places.

2007 MCSSC golf championship

The 2007 MCSSC golf championship was held at Heswall golf club on Friday 7 September.

35 golfers took part covering a wide range of departments.

On a dry windy day with the new course still settling in both winners came from HMRC.

The best gross was a hard fought affair with 3 players on 80, Mark Jost winning on countback.

Rob Cloney won the best net with 84 – 10 = 74, again on countback.

Despite the difficult conditions everyone enjoyed the challenge, or so they said.
